LEARNING ANALYSIS
The Problem: Graduates of SJSU's Class of 2025 are entering a competitive job market and are beginning to feel stressed about their job search. The SJSU Career Center aims to support these recent alumni, but faces the challenge of lacking an ongoing communication channel and time commitment from this group. They offer a "Launch Your Career" course that teaches essential job search skills, such as resume writing, optimizing LinkedIn profiles, and practicing interview techniques. However, there is limited information available on self-care and wellness to help graduates become resilient job seekers. Additionally, this course is hosted on the Canvas LMS, but graduates might not think about logging in to this platform after graduation. Furthermore, the platform is not intuitively designed for mobile use.
The Solution: I recommended a series of mobile-friendly micro e-learning courses created by Articulate Rise and hosted on the Canvas LMS. The email campaigns directed at all graduating students and rising seniors will include a direct link to each career topic and encourage them to click on a topic they wish to learn about. Each module will take only five minutes to complete, and no grading will be required. This approach increases students' autonomy in making choices and enables them to complete the course using mobile devices.
